Arts of Place was a project initiated by Beam. The main aim of the project was to install a temporary arts installation to bring to life an area in the process of regeneration (Bradford City Centre). Lumen was brought into the project to support the audio, visual and technical installation.
A key part of Arts of Place was ‘Echoing Green’, a large-scale waterfall projection that was installed at Bradford Town Hall. The artists, Shanaz Gulzar and Steve Manthorpe, had the vision for the installation but required Lumen’s technical skills to build a retractable screen so that the installation would be active at night, but removable during the day. Due to the demanding specification and the expense of the materials involved versus a tight budget, Lumen delivered this project for free (at cost), using our RFO money to fund staff time. Without Lumen, it would have been extremely difficult for this fantastic installation to be realised.
