Our courses are aimed at introducing you to the equipment and more importantly getting you to  experiment and expand  your artistic projects and ideas. We welcome suggestions on other areas of media art you would like to explore

Examples of our courses:

Projection with sound for exhibition
: Learn how to use digital projection with audio equipment to explore creative techniques, as used in galleries and outdoors, to exhibit your film, media & photography art. You’ll look at desktop to professional projectors, learn about lenses, and link the images to DVD players and speakers for audio alongside the images. A popular course last season

Sound engineering for music:
Provides a basic, practical introduction to selecting and operating a PA system for use in a musical setting. Includes: different microphone types, D.I. boxes, advanced mixing desk skills, feedback elimination, monitoring and basic gig recording. The session will feature live instruments and cover the set-up as well as use of a full PA system.

Sound Art: Examples of the role of sound in art, recording indoors & outdoors, software & hardware available, importing & exporting sound from software, listening & discussing the footage from the session and reviewing examples of sound art

Digital video editing: This session is an introduction for three participants only. You will work closely with the tutor to achieve an intensive and high quality training experience in the essential skills needed to edit video, including – importing footage, editing visuals & sound, effects & filters, compressing & exporting the final version to DVD or web

Digital video cameras & light: This session explore hands on use of HD (high definition) and HDV camera equipment and an introduction to filming and basic lighting techniques. You will learn how to plan and film using these high quality cameras to produce  footage ready for editing

Recording for Sound Art Additionally 1:1 training with a tutor is available on all of the above courses, creative software for digital film, sound editing and image manipulation @ £45 per hour

A maximum of 8 students per course, unless otherwise stated. Payable by cheque to ‘Lumen Arts Ltd’ and must be received in advance to secure your place. No refund on cancellations or transfers less than 7 days prior to the course as we require minimum students to enable us to run these courses at affordable prices
